Terms of service

Last updated June 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to the JCDE Article Processing Charges (APC) Payment Service (“Service”). This Service is operated by the Society for Computational Design and Engineering (“SCDE”) for the purpose of collecting Article Processing Charges (APCs) for manuscripts accepted for publication in the Journal of Computational Design and Engineering (“JCDE”).

By accessing or using this Service, you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. Scope of the Service

The Service is provided solely for the payment of APCs associated with manuscripts that have been formally accepted for publication in JCDE.

Use of this Service does not guarantee publication of any manuscript. Publication remains subject to the journal’s editorial policies, publication procedures, and applicable publishing agreements.

3. User Accounts

You may be required to create an account to use this Service.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities conducted under your account.

You agree to provide accurate and complete information when registering and using the Service.

4. APC Payment

The APC is a publication service fee for accepted manuscripts.

By making an APC payment, the author expressly requests the commencement of the publication process. Following payment, publication-related services begin, including production preparation, metadata processing, publication administration, licensing procedures, and communication with publishing partners.

Payment of the APC is required before publication processing can proceed.

5. Refunds

Refunds are governed by the JCDE Refund Policy.

By using this Service, you acknowledge that APC payments are generally non-refundable once publication processing has commenced, subject to the exceptions described in the Refund Policy.

6. Service Availability

SCDE will make reasonable efforts to maintain the availability of the Service.

However, SCDE does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service and shall not be liable for temporary interruptions caused by maintenance, technical issues, payment processing systems, or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SCDE shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from the use of this Service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, logos, and materials available through this Service are the property of SCDE or their respective owners and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

9. Changes to the Service or Terms

SCDE reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time.

SCDE may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on this page with the revised effective date.

10. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea.

Any disputes arising from or relating to the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Korea.
